Having heard all of the stories about climbing the corporate ladder, I realized that my career advancement philosophy might be fairly unique. My goal isn’t to be the senior executive of a company. It is to do the best job I can for my current supervisor and hope to get them promoted. They may take credit for my work as their own. They may never mention my name to their supervisor. I’m okay with that. Any supervisor knows the colleagues that help them the most, which has been to my benefit. As they receive promotions for excelling in their job, they likewise promote those that helped them achieve their success. As a director of a national company, I am privileged to have worked for some excellent supervisors–as I currently am.
